Professor George Fleming - Chair
Professor Fleming is a Civil Engineer / Environmental manager with over 45 years’ experience in all aspects of environmental management. Particular skills include the application of mathematical models to surface and groundwater, hydrogeology, coastal processes, sediment movement, river restoration and the development of parts and harbours.
Professor Fleming gained a PhD in Hydrology and sediment transport in the Clyde basin in 1969 which involved studies at Stamford’ University. He also has extensive experience in landfill and brownfield land management and remediation.
Fred MacAulay - Trustee
Comedian Fred MacAulay was until age 36 an Accountant and Company Secretary.
As well as presenting BBC Radio Scotland’s flagship morning programme ‘MacAulay and Co’ for 18 years, Fred has made many appearances on comedy panel shows, including Mock the Week, QI and Have I Got News For You. He was also a guest on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson on US television.
Charity challenges include climbing Mount Kilimanjaro and kayaking the Caledonian Canal for Sport Relief. His West Highland Way walk was broadcast on STV and he lasted 7 out of 11 nights when he sang on Comic Relief Does Fame Academy. Fred has appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe for nearly 30 years.
Margaret MacKay - Trustee
Margaret began her career with HBOS and has over 36 years’ experience in PLC, AIM and family owned businesses. She has held Board level positions for the last 20 years and was latterly Managing Director, Scotland and Ireland Division with Peel Ports. She has a Masters Degree in Human Resource Management and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. She also has a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing.
Since 2017, Margaret has been a Board Member of the Scottish Building Society, where she is Chair of the Remuneration Committee, Chair of the Nomination Committee and she is also the Senior Independent Director.
Marlynn Mackay - Trustee
Marlynn initially trained as a Registered Nurse and Midwife before working as a Ward Sister at several hospitals across Glasgow. She went on to become Unit Manager for the Medical Directorate for the Western and Gartnavel Trust and the Glasgow Homoeopathic Hospital. Marlynn then qualified as a counsellor and moved in to the care sector where she was Area Manager for Crossroads Badenoch and Strathspey Care Attendant Scheme; a registered charity providing respite breaks for carers.
She is a qualified trainer in Suicide Intervention, Dementia (Iris Murdoch Centre Stirling University) and Health and Safety. Marlynn retired in 2011.
Duar Fleming - Trustee
Duar has been Managing Director of EnviroCentre, a medium sized technical practice, since 2010. He specialises in Environmental Consultancy and Business Management. Duar has almost more than 28 years’ experience in his profession and has worked on many of Scotland’s National Infrastructure projects. His other advisory roles include, Director of The Association of Environmental Clerks of Works (AECoW) and Awesome Glasgow (Charitable Trust) Trustee.
